Factions

Advent Wrath

Allocate Unity to level up Unity abilities, which are a diverse collection of strategic capabilities for your empire.

Overview

Advent Wrath embodies righteous retribution and psychic domination. The faction fights with offensive psionic control, cultural spread and punitive strikes within sanctified space.

Compared with Advent Reborn

Both Advent factions share the Unity framework, but apply opposing doctrines:

  • Doctrine: Reborn emphasizes recovery and sacrifice. Wrath emphasizes psionic crowd control, forced compliance and area damage.
  • Unity abilities: Wrath's abilities include Clairvoyance, Proselytize, Avatar, Chastise and Fury. Reborn uses Cleanse, Resurrection, Recall and Sanctify, and shares Clairvoyance.
  • Titan: Reborn fields the Eradica Titan, which grows stronger as friendly ships are lost. Wrath fields the Coronata Titan, which seizes control of enemy ships and directs focused psionic strikes.

Core mechanics

Unity, Focus and Psi Power

Advent play revolves around three systems:

  • Unity points: Earned by building Temples of Unity; they advance your ability tiers.
  • Focus: A strategic pool spent to cast empire-wide abilities.
  • Psi Power: A ship attribute that strengthens ship abilities. It is not spent like a currency.

Cultural amplification

With Clarity of Purpose, Advent warships gain Psi Power while inside friendly culture. Spreading culture gives your fleet an edge before a battle even starts.

Coordinated abilities

Wrath's abilities combine well. Chastise followed by Fury pins enemy ships in place before hitting them with area damage. Fast ships can escape if the disabling effects run out.

Coronata Titan

The Coronata is a high-value platform best supported by Revelation Battlecruisers with the Guidance ability. Expect opponents to go after those supporting ships.

Focus Conversion

Early Focus Conversion produces only credits; conversion to metal and crystal unlocks at tier 5. Clairvoyance's detection strength grows with its level. Clearing corruption with Cleanse is a Reborn ability, not a Wrath one.

Strategic trade-offs

  • Culture vs. fleet size: Broad cultural coverage takes early resources that would otherwise go into ships.
  • Focus budgeting: Focus spent on economic conversion is not available for battlefield abilities.
  • Distance: On large multi-star maps, bringing fleets back to defend distant colonies takes time.

Content and DLC

The base game Wrath roster includes the Coronata Titan, the standard Advent capital ships and the Deliverance Engine superweapon. The Reinforcements DLC adds the Oblivia Dreadnought, an advanced capital flagship, and the Mass Conversion victory condition.
